The Family Intervention Project

Torbay Anti-Social Behaviour Family Intervention Project (ASB FIP) has been operational since October 2008 and to date has worked with 26 families and over 100 children across Torbay in order to reduce anti-social behaviour and prevent homelessness.

By very nature the FIP works intensively with families for an average of between 12 and 18 months in order to challenge and address, ‘often’ what are entrenched cycles of ASB.  The issues for families often include various difficulties, which impact on their functioning and positive outcomes for children.  Difficulties can include being subject to domestic abuse, substance misuse, poor or no educational attendance and poor parenting and isolation.

The project works with a ‘can do’ mentality and aims to address all issues in family homes in order to increase positive factors, the impact on the wider community and life chances of young people.

Multi-agency working is integral to the work and relies on the cohesion of approaches to plans, encompassing commitment from all to sustain a consistent approach.
