Focus on ... Online Safety
The internet is a huge part of daily life for many people, especially children. We use it to find things that interest us, share information, shop, learn, and talk to friends. Like any environment though, it has risks. Virtually S@fe is a new pilot project in Torbay that aims to help keep children safer online.
Virtually S@fe does two things:
- Gives ‘hands on’ online safety advice for parents and carers so that they can have the confidence to discuss the issue with their children.
- Provides special presentations for children in schools on issues like social networking, online conduct and consequences, as well as how to report any concerns.
