Tackling Anti-Social BehaviourAnti-social behaviour (ASB) can be a real problem for some communities. If you experience ASB it is important you report it.
Safer Communities, part of Torbay Council, is commited to tackling ASB and helping the residents of Torbay to feel safe.
Tackling ASB effectively requires many local agencies to work together. Torbay has a good partnership structure which enables Safer Communities, other Council departments, Police, Youth Offending Team (YOT) Probation and the Fire Service to work effectively and tackle ASB.
We all want the community in which we live to be free from ASB. When ASB happens, we all want it dealt with so that we can feel safe in our community. When Anti-Social Behaviour happens, Safer Communities Torbay can help.
Safer Communities Torbay is part of Torbay Council and we work with a range of local agencies including the Police, youth offending teams and residential social landlords to tackle ASB. We use a range of tools and powers to tackle ASB and will take enforcement powers to stop it. This is why, when we recieve complaints of ASB, we issue diary sheets for people to record what they see, when they see it, who they see and where they see it. This information is vital. By taking a stand against ASB, together we can stop it.
In addition to responding to complaints of ASB, Safer Communities Torbay teams spend a lot of time out in the community. This enables us to tackle emerging problems, raise awareness of how to report ASB understand the communities needs or to provide re-assurance. We organise face-the-public sessions and deliver specific projects to tackle ASB.
We can only take action against ASB if we're aware it is taking place. If you do experience ASB it is important you report it; don't rely on someone else doing it. We would rather have 10 people call us about the same incident than no one call. Only when it's reported can we take action.
