Witness Charter

ASB“Everyone has a right to enjoy life in their own way as long as they don’t upset people living near them”

Whilst support is available to victims and witnesses in criminal cases, this is not so in civil cases; an anti-social behaviour case will be heard in civil Court. For this reason, it is important you know what support is available to you when you come forward to take a stand against anti-social behaviour.

The Anti–Social Behaviour (ASB) Team is here to offer help and support to anyone who is suffering because of persistent and serious acts of anti-social behaviour. For example:

  • Persistent  verbal abuse or threats
  • Assault or physical violence
  • Vandalism to or near your home

The ASB Team has a range of non-legal measures to tackle ASB, such as warnings, mediation and Acceptable Behaviour Contracts (ABC). If these measures fail to stop the person(s) from acting anti socially, the ASB Team may seek enforcement action through the Court by applying for an Anti Social Behaviour Order (ASBO) or Anti Social Behaviour Injunction (ASBI) to stop the behaviour.
