As part of a Court Order, offenders perform 6.5 million hours of Unpaid work every year in England and Wales. In cash terms this represents over £30 million worth of labour.
Community Payback projects range from litter removal to clearing dense under growth, and environmental projects through repairing and redecorating community centres or removing graffiti. Offenders usually work as part of a team, monitored by a supervisor, and will work all day with short breaks, although there are some opportunities for individual placements.

To be considered your project must meet the following criteria:
Offenders must be seen to be putting something back into the community. In Torbay, over 6000 hrs of Community Payback were completed over the last 3 months and almost 25,000 hours will be completed by the end of the year by offenders on a community sentence. This equates to approximately £170,000 of free labour, based on the minimum wage, provided to local communities as offenders pay back for the crimes they have committed.
