I'm an Older Person

If you’re an older person and you’ve been the victim of a crime, you may feel frightened, angry or upset. It’s important to remember that there are people and organisations who can help you, and offer you support.

To help you come to terms with what has happened to you, you can:

Talk to someone

Victim Support is a national charity which aims to support both victims and witnesses of crime. The Victim Support website contains a lot of information and guidance for victims and witnesses about specific crimes and it also explains how the criminal justice system works so you can find out about things like giving evidence at court. The website also contains information and guidance for young people.

Visit the Victim Support opens in a new window website. To contact Victim Support telephone 0845 30 30 900.

Report the crime

Contact Devon and Cornwall Police on telephone 101 (non-emergency) or telephone 999 (emergency calls only). In non-emergency situations, you can also report some types of crime online using the Devon and Cornwall Police website opens in a new window.

You can also report crime anonymously by contacting the national charity Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111. When you contact Crime Stoppers you don’t have to provide your personal information and calls can’t be traced. You can also report online at the Crime Stoppers website.
