If you know someone who has been the victim of a crime, there are many organisations that can give you advice and support.
At Safer Communities Torbay we recommend that all crimes are reported to Devon and Cornwall Police on 101 (non-emergency) in an emergency, always call 999.
It is up to you whether you want to report the crime yourself, or if you want to encourage the victim to make a report.
Victim Support is a national charity which aims to support both victims and witnesses of crime. The Victim Support website contains a lot of information and guidance for victims and witnesses about specific crimes and it also explains how the criminal justice system works so you can find out about things like giving evidence at court. The website also contains information and guidance for young people.
