You can speak to Victim Support who offer free and confidential advice to any woman, man, child or young person who’s been the victim of a rape or sexual assault. You don’t need to have spoken to the police before contacting Victim Support and you can speak to them about a recent incident, or something that may have happened to you in the past.

If you’re a young person, check out the ChildLine opens in a new window website to find who you can tell.

Want to speak to someone or report it?

You can choose whether or not you want to report the person who has hurt you. If you report an attack as soon as possible after it’s happened, the police may be able to get important physical evidence. If you choose to report the attack later on, that physical evidence may not be there but the police will still support you.

The police can be contacted in an emergency on telephone 999. You can also report a rape or sexual assault to the police on telephone 101 (non-emergency contact).

If you want to speak to someone before contacting the police, you can telephone Victim Support on 0845 30 30 900 for support and information.

You can also speak to someone in a Sexual Assault Referral Centre. Sexual Assault Referral Centres can offer free and confidential help and support. To find out more visit the sexual assult pages on the Devon and Cornwall Police Website.

For information, advice, help and support you can also visit other services like your local doctor or sexual health centre.
