Victoria Park has frequently been highlighted as a troubled area in the ‘You Said We Did’ projects. Many local residents voiced opinions that the area was deemed as a ‘no-go’ location especially after dark or on the weekends. The general condition of the location was commonly mentioned, with many comments directly referring the increasing amounts of litter across the park.
In order to overcome these problems, Safer Communities has proposed a community ‘Pick-Nic’ of which members of the local community as well as youth club members will be welcomed to come along to the park to an afternoon picnic and litter pick.
The main aim of this project is to not only promote better relations between generations but to also inspire greater pride and interest in the local area.
PCSO’s, Street Wardens and youth group leaders will actively support Safer Communities project assistants to encourage the best possible relations and turn out of youths and elderly.
