Your security

There are lots of practical things that you can do to keep your home secure and safe like:

  • Always make sure your doors and windows are locked if you’re going out.
  • If you have a spy hole, use it to check who is at your door before opening it.
  • If someone comes to your door and says that they are from a company always ask to see their identification.
  • Check the credentials of people coming to your door by telephoning their employer.
  • If you don’t feel comfortable letting someone into your home, ask them to come back at another time when you can arrange to have a friend or neighbour with you.
  • Don’t leave items like ladders around as they could be used by burglars to get into your home. Make sure such items are securely stored away.
