For My Girlfriend Valentines Day Card (Road Safety Campaign)

The “For My Girlfriend” young driver campaign is asking young people to take responsibility when driving in the run up to Valentines Day.

The campaign brings home graphically the potentially terrible consequences for young drivers and their passengers when things go wrong.

The message is potrayed using a Valentines Day card that looks authentic on the outside, like a card one would receive from a mystery admirer but inside it carries the message: ‘On Valentine's Day…take responsibility when driving’.Please note that some viewers may find these image disturbing.

For more information please vist the For My Girlfriend website.

What does the campaign aim to do?

  • Reinforce the message that residents and visitors should have fun but also should drink responsibly and behave properly
  • Help people to think about what type of drinker they are – social, hazardous, harmful or dependant
  • Emphasise the physical effects of binge and hazardous drinking on the brain and body
  • Raise awareness of the rrecommended upper limits for alcohol for normal healthy adults
  • Reinforce the message that there is no quick way for you to tell if you have had too much, so if you're going to drive it's best not to drink at all

This year’s campaign ties in with a wider one run by Devon and Cornwall Police. Videos and other materials can be accessed on thier Don't leave your brain at home pages.:
