You Said We Did

Safer Communities Torbay regularly goes into the community to listen to residents through a series of public events called 'You Said We Did'.

The aim of these events is to meet with the communities across Torbay and listen to residents about the issues of crime and Anti-Social Behaviour they are experiencing. These events are arranged through local community partnerships and community groups in a range of locations.

Once we are aware of residents' main issues we work with our key partners to tackle the problems. We then feedback to update residents about what has been achieved.

We have now completed the latest round of ‘You Said We Did 2010’ events which were held with Diverse Community groups within Torbay, during January and February 2010 we held 7 ‘You Said We Did’ events around Torbay:-

• Young people – Paignton, Brixham and Torquay
• 50+ Groups
• Black, ethinic and Minority Groups (BME)
• Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Groups
• People with Disabilities

We also developed an on-line reporting form and a free post postcard which could be completed and returned via post or to any Council or Police Building, for anyone who was unable to attend the public events.

This card was also circulated widely across Torbay through Primary Schools, Libraries, Doctors Surgeries, Large Employers, all Council and Partner Agency Buildings.

‘You Said We Did’ Action Plans

Following on from the 7 ‘You Said We Did’ events, we arranged an ‘Anti-Social Behaviour and Confidence Conference’ which took place on 2nd March 2010 for partners organisations, stakeholders and service users to look at the top 3 issues raised from each of the different community groups.

Any concerns or issues raised, which were not being addressed by Safer Communities Torbay or any of it partner agencies, were identified and action plans were developed to address these concerns and issues, these actions plans will now be delivered by task and finishes groups.

• Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Action Plan – to follow shortly

These Action Plans will be updated regularly to reflect actions achieved to date.
